Dr. Schumacher joined 3M in 2010. Her contributions to 3M’s innovative products include the 3M™ Display Quality Score, a predictor of the perceptual quality of any digital display. This method demonstrates the qualitative differences between specific display designs, and is frequently part of the display manufacturer’s decision process. She has also contributed to several new technologies in applications for anti-counterfeiting, body armor, and predictive health analytics. Her efforts have been recognized with two granted patents, 20+ patent applications, and four 3M Circle of Technical Excellence and Innovation awards. She is currently leading the creation of next generation 3M technology platforms in computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning.
